American golfer Rickie Fowler wears sunglasses painting the Memorial Tournament – the PGA Tour event is taking place in Ohio – to improve eyesight, not for fashion.

On the opening day of June 3, Fowler hit 69 strokes at Muirfield Village par72. He wears an eye-support accessory that is covered with seven colors despite the overcast weather and occasional rain. After the round, Fowler shared about his weak eyes, often “night blindness”.

“I’m always tired of seeing things that are more than 150 yards away. It’s fine up close. In addition, my eyes are blurred in low-light environments, such as early morning or dusk. Now I try wearing glasses. medication before thinking about Lasik treatment,” Fowler said.

Fowler is known for being fashionable in the PGA Tour world. But the player born in 1988 does not like to wear sunglasses when playing because it is loose while swinging the club and obstructs the view of the ball.

“The type of glasses is often very entangled. I think of standard prescription glasses, close to the face and now I can see the landing,” he said.

Fowler entered professional golf in 2009 and took only a few months to get on the PGA Tour, now owning five titles, including The Players Championship – the landmark event of this arena. In the traditional major quartet, he attended for 10 consecutive years, in which three times the runner-up and one T3 occasion, spread each award.

However, Fowler was down in form for the whole of 2020, so he was not able to compete for the Masters in April 2021. Thanks to a special invitation from the Organizing Committee, he entered the PGA Championship three weeks ago and finished T8.

At Memorial yesterday, Fowler scored three birdies and no bogey, reaching 286.8 yards at two points recorded by the PGA Tour average distance from the top of the hole. The whole leg, he hit 10 fairways, went to the green according to the standard 11 holes.

With a score of -3, Fowler is at T7 and the top of the table belongs to Collin Morikawa at -6. The overall leaderboard is not complete because bad weather caused the opening round to be halted twice and then finally postponed. Therefore, the golfers who have not finished their work must resolve the backlog and enter the second round today, June 4.
