Closing the curtain on the morning of September 6, Hanoi time. Cantlay won the double title thanks to birdie on the 18th hole par5. This hole, he played 361 yards, added 217 yards with a 6 iron from the fairway near the lake and then added two more putts, of which the first shot was 3.3 meters.

After puttingt close to the hole, Cantlay led Jon Rahm a final stroke.

“For me personally, this is a great victory, after a season of hard work and pressure,” Cantlay said during the award ceremony.

He entered the Tour Championship with a -10 entry advantage due to the top of the FedEx Cup, four-stroke lead with Rahm.

On the last hole, Rahm played 352 yards down the right fairway. On the second shot, 238 yards, the ball hit the green but passed the pennant on the second bounce and into the rough grass around the green, 5.4 meters from the hole. If the word is eagle, Rahm forces Cantlay to play-off (side hole). But the number one golfer in the world only birdie because the chip went across the left edge of the hole.

In the final game, Cantlay hit 69 strokes, scoring four birdies and three bogeys, while Rahm 68 strokes with two birdies on the no-bogey scorecard.

Both start the last turn. At hole 16, Cantlay led Rahm two strokes thanks to birdie after hitting the green 1.8 meters from the hole. But on hole 17, the 29-year-old American golfer almost lost all advantage due to technical negligence. He hit the big tree, causing the ball to hit the thick rough grass, then crossed the green on the second shot. This shot flew over the heads of the audience.

Cantlay was underpowered on the third shot, so the ball was just near the edge of the green. He finished the hole with a chip and a 1.8 meter putt. After this bogey, Cantlay led Rahm just one stick.

Rahm finished second in the FedEx Cup, receiving five million dollars. In this race, Kevin Na finished third, with four million USD. Na above Justin Thomas one level, more than a million dollars.

But in the Tour Championship alone, Na and Rahm reached T1 with a score of -14. Since the world ranking table (OWGR) only counts 72 standard holes, both were awarded 64 points in today’s update.

Wrapping up this PGA Tour season, Cantlay won the most – four titles, counting the BMW Championship before the big finals at East Lake and Memorial in June. At that time, Rahm led six strokes after 54 holes but had to leave the tournament because of Covid-19 infection.

Cantlay has been playing professionally since 2012, until the end of last year, only two championships in the US First Class golf arena. He nearly quit his job due to a back injury for three years.
