According to Deputy Director General of the General Department of Sports and Sports Tran Duc Phan, Vietnam is still making efforts to prepare for the 31st SEA Games despite the complicated developments of Covid-19 in Southeast Asia.
“The preparations for the 31st SEA Games are still underway normally. Of course, we hope that the disease situation will be better in the future, or have a vaccine passport,” said Deputy Director of General Department of Sports and Sports Tran Duc Phan. in Hanoi on the afternoon of April 19.
Mr. Tran Duc Phan said Covid-19 made Vietnam face many difficulties in preparing for the 31st SEA Games.
SEA Games 31 is scheduled to be held in Vietnam from November 21 to December 2 with 40 sports and 520 contents. Hanoi is the main host place, with 11 localities being Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, Hai Duong, Vinh Phuc, Bac Giang and Phu Tho.
Due to Covid-19, many preparations for the 31st SEA Games were postponed. “The biggest problem with the Organizing Committee is to race against time. We have very little time to prepare, we must hurry up to be in time,” added Mr. Tran Duc Phan.
Currently, a series of competition venues such as My Dinh Stadium, volleyball stadium in Quang Ninh, basketball stadium in Thanh Tri … are urgently being repaired. In addition, the Logistics Subcommittee has surveyed hotels, prepared accommodation for thousands of athletes, referees, officials …

The 31st SEA Games Organizing Committee expects the total spending for the Congress to be nearly 1,700 billion VND from the central budget. In addition, Hanoi and localities also actively allocate funds from the local budget and other sources to upgrade, renovate and repair works.
Besides, the 31st SEA Games organizers also expect to attract sponsors to have funds and items for the meeting. On April 19, the Organizing Committee signed a contract with Vietcontent – Vietcontent Digital Content Joint Stock Company, so that this partner is a marketing consultant and sponsor for SEA Games 31 and Para Games 11.
