Dense fog on the morning of June 17 prevented the men’s major on Torrey Pines South Stadium in San Diego from opening at the scheduled time.

On the opening day, the USGA arranged the first group to start at 7:45 am, San Diego time – 14 hours after Vietnam, in which Sahith Theegala was honored to have the “first shot” at hole 1. Along with Theegala group were Edoardo Molinari and Greyson Sigg .

But until the time of the zodiac, Theegala still had to wait, because the yard was still foggy, contrary to the prediction before the tournament.

Therefore, the USGA initially announced an additional 45 minutes to wait for the fog to clear. But until 8:15, the sky was clear enough for Theegala to officially launch.

The first match on par71, Theegala hit 76, Molinari 70 and Sigg 71.

With 156 players this period, a 90-minute delay meant that the opening day didn’t finish the opening leg. Because, the last group entered at 16:15 while the sun set at 19:59.

In the past 17 years, this is the first time the US Open has had a fog problem. The first round of the 2004 game at Shinnecock Hills was also postponed for the same reason.
