“Super Tiger” turned 45 on December 30 with records waiting for him to break in the next 5 years.

Woods was born on December 30, 1975, and has been playing professionally for 25 years. He owns 15 major in a record 82 PGA Tour titles – comparable to legendary Sam Snead, 683 weeks to hold number one in the world (OWGR), receiving nearly 121 million USD through 368 events.

But at this age, “Super Tiger” is still expected by golfers to surpass Snead and level the 18 major record of “Golden Bear” Jack Nicklaus. And he has half a decade to do that, because at the end of this time, Woods turns 50 – the milestone for the Champions arena.

But will that possibility come true? Over a quarter of a century with 1,322 crowns, Woods had nine operations, four of them on his back, and the rest on his knees.

In early 2020, Woods ranked sixth in the world. It was the result of important victories in the previous year – winning the Masters for the fifth time, winning the Zozo Championship and hitting the record for most titles in the American arena. At the end of 2019, Woods leads the US team to win the Presidents Cup. Only he won three and drew two matches.

All season, his smoldering body only allowed Woods to attend nine top-notch events with his best performance being T9 at the Farmers Insurance Open. With the major group alone, Woods finished T37 at the PGA Championship, was eliminated at the US Open, and T38 in the Masters. “I’m not at optimal form. Whenever I have a good serve, I use a bad iron. When my batting performance is good, I play poorly or vice versa,” Woods said before leaving the US Open in mid-November.

And today, Woods ranks 41st OWGR.

By 2021, Woods can compete up to 18 events in his old condition, while the general calendar includes 50 awards. And as a personal practice, the kick-off will be the Farmers Insurance Open – where he has won seven times – at the end of January, followed by the Genesis Invitational, which Woods presides over. If all goes well, Woods’ personal calendar will not lack the traditional major quartet, alongside The Players Championship – the main event of the PGA Tour, and also the Arnold Palmer Invitational – where he has been crowned eight times. Those tournaments were an opportunity for Woods to surpass Snead seniors.

But the way to catch up with the major record will be a long way off, when Woods needs three more titles to match Nicklaus.

History does not support Woods because no one can win many majores after the age of 45. Up to now, only three golfers have won majors after this milestone, including Old Tom Morris (at The Open Championship 1867), Julius Boros (PGA Championship 1968 ) and Nicklaus (Masters 1986). All three were 46 years old when crowned, and that was their final victory in the prestigious event group.

“Tiger has always surpassed expectations. He has made a record that I think is not possible in golf. If he wins 20 more awards in the next 5 years, I am not surprised. But the great champions often write the impossible stories, “said Tom Lehman, a star about Woods’ ability to set more records.
