“Overcoming salt drought with the West” is a virtual runway coordinated by the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) VnExpress held from April 7, aiming to share difficulties in the season of salty drought with people in the West. To spread this message further, over the weekend EVNSPC organized a jogging activity in Soc Trang.

Hundreds of youth union members of the province, Nga Nam district union and the Southern Power Corporation, Soc Trang Power Company attended the event. Besides, EVNSPC also launched the “Billion Tree Planting Program” to contribute to environmental restoration.

Sharing at the event, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Duc, General Director of EVNSPC said that through the run, the enterprise wants to convey the message of encouraging people in the West, encouraging solidarity and sharing spirit over difficulties during the salty drought season.

Representatives of EVNSPC and Soc Trang Power Company then awarded 50 bicycles and 100 scholarships to students in difficult circumstances. Each scholarship is worth one million dong.

Ending running activities, businesses, runners and local leaders together plant 1,000 selected trees suitable for the actual conditions, soil and climate in Soc Trang. EVNSPC’s 2021 plan is to plant 20,000 trees. In the period of 2021-2025, the company plans to plant about 100,000 trees in 21 southern provinces / cities.

The virtual running tournament “Overcoming the salt with the West” opens the registration gate for free from April 7 and lasts until April 28. 5,000 people are participating in the tournament. The total time each runner is for 21 days. Five distances from: 10 km, 21 km, 42 km, 100 km, 150 km will suit most people’s training and fitness conditions.

The message “run for the West” received great support. Each completed runner kilometer corresponds to 1,000 VND to support the program against salinity. In addition, in the first 10,000 runners, each registrant will contribute a green tree (worth 100,000 VND) planted in the West and some southern provinces from the sponsorship of the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC). .

Race results will be synthesized and announced by the organizers from May 19 to June 19. The top 20 best performers in terms of kilometers run will receive awards from EVNSPC. The top 3 runner-ups will respectively receive prizes worth 3 million, 2 million and 1.5 million VND each. 17 consolation prizes equivalent to 500,000 VND each. The total value of the prizes is 15 million VND.
