Quang Liem started the second day against Hikaru Nakamura, of the fast four chess game. Nakamura is ranked 19th in standard chess, but third in the world in fast chess. Quang Liem experimented after the opening, then had a small advantage in the endgame. Nakamura showed great defensive ability when turning the situation around and forcing Quang Liem to have a constant projection to draw.
In the fifth game, Quang Liem took the black piece against Peter Svidler, and the Russian player took the initiative most of the time. Svidler made a serious mistake on move 36, but Quang Liem didn’t see this combo.

In the last game of fast chess, Quang Liem took the white piece to meet Dominguez. If he earns four or more points on this day, Quang Liem can catch up with the middle group.
