Phil Mickelson constantly had problems including the phone ringing and the ball hitting the rough grass because he went on the green but hit the flag handle at the major just opened in San Diego.

US Open 2021 – the 121st match – organized by the American Golf Association on the South, par71 course in the 36-hole Torrey Pines golf complex.

The event opened on the morning of June 17, San Diego time, 14 hours after Hanoi time. In the first round, Mickelson started from the back half and bogey on the opening hole. In his second shot from the fairway on hole 13, Mickelson had to stop several times because of the sound of his phone in the crowd. When it was time to hit, the ball went straight into the luxuriant wasteland.

Because he couldn’t find it, Mickelson had to drop a new ball with a penalty stroke, 61 yards from the hole. The golfer nicknamed “Lefty” hit the green on his next shot, but the ball hit the target marker and landed in the rough rough to the left of the hole. The American player then chip in and put (putt) 1.5 meters to record bogey.

“Professional golf is like that. We need to learn how to deal with unexpected situations. And I don’t understand why you can’t just turn on the little button on the side of the phone to turn off the ring,” Mickelson complained on Golf Channel when the game is over. He also said the noise was still coming for the next 3-4 shots.

However, Mickelson still accepted personal technical errors. “I want to hit far to get through the bunkers and get good points without taking into account the possibility of going left,” explains the World Golf Hall of Fame member since 2004.

The whole leg, he hit eight of the 14 fairways, went to the green on a 10-hole standard and used 32 putts.

With this victory, Mickelson won the 45th PGA Tour title, the sixth time he was crowned bronze. was the oldest champion in the major arena. His previous five victories in the traditional major quartet including three Masters, The Open 2013 and the PGA Championship were 16 years ago.

At the US Open, Mickelson holds a record of six runners-up. Because he has not won this event, he has not been able to reach the Grand Slam golf milestone. Mickelson turned 51 on June 16.
