AmericaBryson DeChambeau at least four missed opportunities to win in a contest with Patrick Cantlay on the final day of the $9.5 million PGA Tour event in Baltimore.

The tournament closed on August 29 with the championship and $ 1.71 million in prize money belonging to Cantlay. He and DeChambeau both held the top of the table with a score of -21 after round 3, comparing each other through each hole on the last day. At the end of the 16th hole, DeChambeau took a lead thanks to a birdie 3.6 meters away.

At the par3 17 hole, DeChambeau seemed to have an extra advantage thanks to a shot into the rough grass near the green – about 7.6 meters from the hole, and Cantlay put the ball into the creek.

After a weak chip, DeChambeau sent the ball 3.3 meters from the target. Meanwhile, Cantlay with a lob wedge on the third shot including the penalty stroke, went 100 yards into the green and 2.4 meters away. Both were bogey, as DeChambeau needed two putts, and Cantlay only had one putt left. The cantlay thus keeps one club apart.

On hole 18, they all entered the green after the second shot. DeChambeau was 3.6 meters from the target, but needed a putt. In contrast, Cantlay is still a putt despite being 6.4 meters away. Birdie this time helped him drag DeChambeau into the play-offs for the same -27 after 72 standard holes on par72.

The game continued, with six holes being used alternately on the last two holes, starting at hole 18.

The first three extra holes, DeChambeau missed all three chances to win by birdie, including the putt 1.8 meters away and the rim 5.5 meters away.

On the fourth extra hole, DeChambeau was at a disadvantage because he hit the creek and was penalized one stroke for dropping the ball 150 yards from target. But he still entered the green with a wedge, 1.2 meters from the hole and kept par like Cantlay. Both were birdies on the fifth extra hole. The competition ended on the sixth extra hole, when Cantlay birdie was 5.5 meters away. This hole, DeChambeau putt closer – 3.6 meters away, but did not enter.

DeChambeau received $1.026 million. After the game, he was closed to the media and was the first player not to win the championship despite scoring -27 on a par72 in PGA Tour history.
