Awarding the top 20 runners for the award “Together with the West to overcome the drought”

After many days of synthesizing, the virtual running platform V-Race and the co-organizer of Southern Electricity Corporation (EVNSPC) selected the 20 best performers for the award “Together with the West to overcome the salinity”, which took place. Released from April 7 to May 19. The results are calculated according to the criteria of the most valid total kilometers completed, without violating the rules and regulations of the tournament and without cheating the results. The organizers will award prizes including: 3 runners with the most total kilometers, respectively, receive cash worth 3 million, 2 million and 1.5 million VND each; 17 consolation prizes equivalent to 500,000 VND each.

Due to the impact of Covid-19, the Organizing Committee did not give directly, but transferred cash to each runner. The deadline to receive the reward is July 31.

The virtual running with the West to overcome the drought ended on May 19, with nearly 8,000 participants, which is the tournament with the largest number of athletes in V-Race up to this point. Through this, the runners have raised 100 million VND in cash and 10,000 trees, extracted from the Southern Electricity Corporation’s budget, contributing to supporting the difficulties of people in the affected provinces of salinity drought.

“EVSPC and lovers running across the country wish to cheer the people of the West, encourage solidarity and the spirit of sharing to overcome difficulties in the drought season. The above reward is a small gift, for those runner strives to complete hundreds of kilometers for the West”, shared Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Duc, General Director of EVNSPC.

Not only being influential in the running community, the tournament also attracts participants from many ages, especially young people. Statistics show that the average age of participants is 35 years old.

The 10 km distance is the most chosen because of the moderate level of challenge, those who do not often run can still ensure successful accumulation of this distance within 21 days. Especially, the highest challenge level at 150 km still attracts 786 registered runners, accounting for nearly 10%.

Many well-known clubs participated in the tournament such as: R4S Community, Ho Lon Team, NEU Runners Friends… There are also groups from companies and communities with the number of members up to hundreds of people.
