VnExpress virtual run tournament reached one million km

On March 17, 2020, VnExpress launched a series of virtual running events called VRace with the desire to promote sports movement in the community. From the first prize “I’m Safe, Fear off – run on”, in turn, the next 10 awards were held to attract thousands of people of all ages, professions, at home and abroad.

The appeal of VRace is demonstrated by more than 27,000 registered participants and one million kilometers run. The average age of runners is 33.72% are male, 28% are female. The organizers also acknowledge the new runners in primary school age running with the spirit of exercising their health. Many other runners who are over the age of 70 still persist every step of the way for miles.

The advantage of running anytime, anywhere helps many runners have the condition to set their own records. Some have hit milestones over 2,000 kilometers since VRace’s inception. Especially there are runners running more than 800 km in 21 days. On average, each runner runs 61.5 km on VRace.

In the group category, the 84RACE with a core of good running legs maintains the lead. This club contributes 21,664 km to VRace. Following are Co-Training, Sacombank Runners Club, PVCFC Runners, VietinBank, NRF, Ho Lap Team, Adidas Runners Saigon … VRace always encourages runners to join in groups, creating a strong running community.

Runners that complete the contest will be awarded certificates and medals online and offline. In addition, there are also in-kind prizes for runners and running groups that meet the criteria of the Organizing Committee such as shopping vouchers, cash, running shirts … as well as exclusive challenges for prizes on social networks.

Last year, VRace’s virtual runs were held in association with special activities, encouraging people in areas affected by epidemics and natural disasters. Specifically, “I am safe” kicked off as soon as Vietnam had the first Covid-19 outbreak, conveying the message of raising self-awareness and exercising health. Or “Thuong to the Central” took place in September, when 10 provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Nam were heavily affected by historic storms. Through running activities, VRace calls for support from kind hearts in cash and in kind, helping difficult lives.

At the end of 2020, VRace organizes the “Giving opportunities, connecting dreams” run with Vietlott’s companion. Based on the total number of kilometers completed runners, Vietlott donated VND 500 million, which turned into Tet gifts to children in the severely damaged districts in Quang Nam province.

Entering the year 2021, VnExpress will continue to organize virtual runs, alongside offline tournaments in Hanoi, Ha Long and Quy Nhon. All help form and further promote the jogging movement, improve health in the community.
