The organizers said that the VnExpress Marathon running series is a social-sport project with the goal of building a running community and encouraging sports habits of Vietnamese people, especially in running. In addition, the award carries the community mission to support the region and locality to enhance tourism potential and attract investment. Also raise funds to provide better educational opportunities for poor children through the Hope Fund.

In 2020, VnExpress Marathon will be held in 3 cities of Quy Nhon, Hanoi and Hue with the participation of nearly 18,000 athletes. The runners have donated 820 million VND to the Hope Fund to help children and people with special circumstances.

VnExpress Marathon started to launch in June 2019 in Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province and attracted nearly 5,000 runners and then became the largest sports event held annually in this locality.

In 2021, besides Quy Nhon and Hanoi, the running series will continue to expand to two coastal cities, Nha Trang and Ha Long. Each tournament is expected to attract nearly 10,000 runners across the country to participate in the sports atmosphere and experience the cultural and tourist imprints of each locality. From there, it helps to encourage people to participate in running, doing sports to improve physical health.

After 3 years of operation, with 4 resoundingly successful races, and 5 other races in preparation, VnExpress Marathon has marked as one of the prestigious marathon race systems in Vietnam. Each award always has the presence of a team of more than 200 organizers and 1,000 volunteers.
