Nelly Korda has just bought a dedicated laptop to play games – a hobby that helps her relieve the pressure of a top golf competition.

This week, the American player born in 1998 brought a specialized entertainment vehicle to France to use during the major Evian Championship. The machine comes pre-installed with a few simple roles, but there is also a shooter released in 2019 – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

“Now the bad guy in me has come out,” Korda joked on July 21 about his pastime before the Evian Championship – an event with a $4.5 million prize fund that takes place on the par71 field of Evian Resort from July 22 to 25/7.

Korda wants to use the game to relieve the pressure of golf, especially after reaching the top of the Rolex Rankings since June 28. Over the past three weeks, her parents and personal manager have actively helped handle a series of interview requests, and she has found more fun in the game.

Korda sees gaming as the perfect solution to clear your mind when you’re not on the field, thereby preserving your health for the hectic schedule of the coming weeks.

“Many people put a lot of emphasis on achievements during the week of competition. And so, they put themselves under mental pressure. And when the mind is tired, the body is exhausted. I used to be like that too. I was not on the field but kept rolling. I’m worried about golf. But now I’m in a different position, playing my best, world rank doesn’t matter,” Korda explained.

This season, Korda has won three tournaments, including the major Women’s PGA Championship on June 24. The event saw her crowned in the prestigious arena for the first time, as well as holding the top of the Rolex Rankings, after five years professionally.

Before that, Korda owned five LPGA Tour titles. In the Evian Championship, her best was previously T25, in 2019.

After the major in France, Korda and her sister Jessica went to Japan to attend the Olympics, and then went to Scotland to compete in the major Women’s Open – both events in August. Also this month, they also attended two more stages of the LPGA Tour, before returning to the US in early September to play the Solheim Cup against Europe.
