The Major PGA Championship welcomes 10,000 fieldgoers every day that will be a new milestone since America’s peak golf opened in the epidemic over the past half year.

The American Professional Golf Association (PGAA) – the host organization of the PGA Championship – recently announced that this year’s tournament was held on the Ocean Course of Kiawah Island from May 17 to May 23. Meanwhile, a maximum of 10,000 people can enter the field to watch the tournament each day. This is the result of many discussions between the PGAA and local authorities, South Carolina and the National Disease Control Agency – CDC USA.

“We look forward to welcoming viewers back to the PGA Championship in May with a strong sense of responsibility to public health and compliance with applicable local epidemic prevention regulations,” said PGAA. on 23/2 quoted President Jim Richerson. Last year, Covid-19 caused the key PGAA event from May to be closed in August. At that time, Collin Morikawa won the championship at -13 at the TPC Harding Park par70, earning $ 1.98 million.

PGAA says tickets to see the PGA Championship this year have ended. Therefore, when distributing the right to access within the allowed range, they will base on many factors such as the initial registration order, the time of purchase, the actual quantity available per day. Refunds will be issued to those who do not have the opportunity to receive or actively book tickets. PGAA will not process tickets purchased from third parties.

With a ceiling of 10,000 people per day, the PGA Championship 2021 was the most crowded tournament since June 2020, when the PGA Tour reopened after three months of translation break. Since then, most of the American professional golf village has banned the audience.

Particularly PGA Tour recorded a number of events for the public to enter the field, initially a few hundred guests, then gradually increased the number of popular categories. The Bermuda Championship in early November 2020 welcomed a maximum of 500 guests while the Houston Open received 2,000 fans a week later. The Phoenix Open earlier this February has up to 5,000 field audience for each main round.

The PGA Tour expects similar daily numbers for the Florida series of events, starting with the Arnold Palmer Invitational from March 4 to March 7 with a 25% limit on the normal ticket capacity. And the main event The Players Championship a week later was at 20% – about 8,000 people per day.

Particularly the traditional major quartet, the PGA Championship and Masters announced the plan to welcome the field audience. But the exclusive major of the Augusta National Stadium has not yet set an expected threshold. In this regard, Royal & Ancient’s The Open Championship (R&A) recently expressed a double opinion, while the US Open of the American Golf Association (USGA) has not mentioned it.
