The Grand Master of Wing Chun has passed away

Huynh Ngoc An was given the martial name of Ho Phi Ho by Master Ho Hai Long (real name Nguyen Duy Hai), a disciple of the master Nguyen Te Cong, to inherit the martial name Ho Phi Ho. the position of master.

With the quintessence of martial arts being imparted along with his own special ability, the master became a Wing Chun master, having merit in teaching and promoting the sect. He not only expanded the discipline in the country, but also thrived in the Russian Federation, Ukraine and some Eastern European countries.

Since 1991, Master An has taught Wing Chun in 19 countries of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, expanded international federations related to Wing Chun in other countries, and became the first President of the Wing Chun Federation. Xuan Quyen International School of Eastern Europe. Before his death, he was still running the Federation with international students, in which, represented by martial artist Igor Astashev in Ukraine.

Through dojos and short seminars, students around the world have learned the martial art of Wing Chun, with typical contents such as: Qigong, Eight Tactics, Little Practice, Five forms of qigong, Little mai flower, Mai flower set; The martial arts postures of the crane figure, the woodwork of the law, the performance of the sword… Difficult exercises such as Luc point semi-cone, Bat slashing knife, Tieu hinh y, Hang Long Phap Tiger Quyen… he only chose the traditional martial arts. for very few students.

Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, during the time of social distancing in Ho Chi Minh City, the dojo had to stop operating. But from his own home, he still opened an online class for his students to practice to maintain their health, and at the same time guided the design of a Mai Hoa Bo training place in Bao Loc, Lam Dong. Recently, he fell ill and died suddenly at his home in District 5.

The master’s body will be cremated by the government, his ashes will be interred at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City and worshiped by the temple in accordance with Buddhist rituals. The visitation ceremony will be announced by the martial arts school after the end of the social distancing period.
