The European Tour publishes the 2021 schedule

The European Tour announced the 2021 season schedule on December 15. Opening the show was the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, January 21-24, of the Rolex Series, alongside the Scottish Open, the BMW PGA Championship and the DP World Tour Championship at the end of the calendar, in mid-November.

The first three awards of the Rolex Series have an eight million dollar bonus, and the season closes at nine million dollars, an increase of one million dollars over the previous period. This is also the highest bonus fund in the system, apart from the group World Golf Championship (WGC) and major. In addition, the increase in bonus fund also applies to the British Masters – from 1.5 to 2.43 million USD, Irish and Italian Open from 1.25 to 3.65 million USD.

The whole season will have a minimum of 42 events including the WGC group and the major quartet in 24 countries and regions, which will record the re-export of 18 events delayed or canceled this year by Covid-19. However, the European Tour has not determined the title or venue of five races, reducing the Rolex Series group to four events.

Last season, the European Tour, when rematching after the epidemic, had to launch events using a geolocation strategy, for example a series of six events in the UK (UK Swing) to limit the risk of infection and complicated procedures for epidemic prevention when traveling, especially by air. That modal led them to the DP World Tour Championship closing down last weekend.

This experience still applies to the new season. Then, after the April Masters, European Tour members returned to Europe to enter the Iberian series (Spain and Portugal), then went to two stages in England. From the end of May, they went to Germany, Sweden and then to UK Swing for seven weeks.
