After the second round on the afternoon of August 5, the Organizing Committee identified three options to complete the women’s content and finish this Olympic golf period on schedule in the face of complicated weather developments.

“If the weather permits, we will start the final round from 6:30 am on August 7. At that time, the golfers will start from hole 1 and hole 10 respectively with the goal of closing the tournament on the same day,” the National Golf Federation said. The International Economic Forum (IGF) – the governing body of Olympic golf – offers the first option in the latest announcement to deal with bad weather.

In the event that the fourth round is not completed on Saturday, golfers will complete 72 holes on Sunday, August 8 if the weather is good. According to this option 2 of IGF, the schedule will be one day late but still ensure the overall progress, because it is on the closing day of Tokyo 2020.

With the worst case scenario – two weekends of heavy rain as forecasted until this afternoon, IGF will take 54 holes as the final result. They are hoping to finish the penultimate round on August 6.

Since the evening of August 4, IGF has planned to deal with bad weather. But in the first announcement, the organization only counted the 54-hole scenario. They abandoned the plan to play the game because women’s golf has passed two days of scorching heat, causing at least two heatstroke caddies.
