On February 22, PGA Tour announced it would launch a new playoff sequence at official events, from the WGC – Workday Championship this week.
This document is sent to member golfers via e-mail. The scope of application is extra hole stroke play in the form of sudden death – the score by hole determines the final result.
And according to the new rules, the competition order will be determined by the “finish first” principle. This means that a golfer who has completed the 72 standard holes first will be kicked first in the extra hole. In the event of a golfer hitting the bottom group in the later hole, the turn will be in the previous order. In the old fashion, players entering the playoffs had to draw a lot.

On February 21, Max Homa and Toy Finau added another battle to determine the Genesis Invitational championship for the same -12 score after 72 standard holes. At that time, Finau finished first and had to wait for Homa to finish the round to know who hit first in the first sub hole – hole 10, par4 of the Riviera, par71.
