JapanThe Olympic Athletes Village in Tokyo Bay, which opened on July 13, will feature a varied menu of meals for about 18,000 athletes and officials.
The village covers 44 hectares (440,000 square meters), providing up to 48,000 meals per day in self-service restaurants. Organizers provide 700 menu options, 3,000 seats in the two main restaurants, and up to 2,000 staff during peak hours.
The menu is divided into three main groups: Western, Japanese and Asian. The Asian menu is divided into three subgroups including Chinese, Indian and Vietnamese food.

The village opened just a day after Tokyo issued a new state of emergency, in response to the Delta mutation. Village residents, mainly athletes and officials, will be tested for nCoV every day. They are forbidden from leaving the village to go to places outside the Tokyo Olympic program, such as amusement parks.
It is expected that 2,200 athletes and officials will visit the village until the end of this week, Sunday, July 18. There have been two Ugandan members, a Serbian athlete and an Israeli official positive for nCoV in the village. This raised concerns about whether the organizers could prevent the disease from spreading in the village.
The village is located in Harumi district, on the edge of Tokyo Bay, consisting of 3,800 houses. The village is in use until the end of the Paralympics on September 8. The apartments will then be sold and leased back from 2024.
The Vietnamese sports delegation, consisting of 43 members, including 18 athletes competing in 11 sports, will fly to Tokyo on July 18. Members must test negative to enter the village. The Ministry of Culture – Sports – Tourism does not set targets, but the Vietnamese sports delegation strives to win medals.
At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Vietnam won a gold medal and a silver medal, all thanks to gunner Hoang Xuan Vinh.
