After three weeks in the position, Spanish golfer Jon Rahm left the top of the world rankings (OWGR) on July 12 despite finishing in the top 10 of the Scottish Open.

Thanks to winning the US Open major on June 21, Rahm topped the OWGR, pushed Dustin Johnson down to second, and ended the 43-week streak of American golfers holding this position. Last week, Rahm entered the Scottish Open and finished seventh while Johnson took a breather. And this result swapped their positions in OWGR.

Thus, for this whole week, Johnson accumulated 135 weeks of holding the top of OWGR and Ram had seven weeks. In terms of time topping the professional golf world, Johnson is only behind Tiger Woods – owner of the record 683 weeks, and Greg Norman – 331 weeks.

Scottish Open scores OWGR, of which the champion gets 56 points. At the event in the Rolex Series group of the European Tour, Rahm will be number one in the world for four consecutive weeks if he finishes in the top six. The award closed the curtain on July 11 with the championship belonging to Lee Min Woo.

Lee, Thomas Detry and Matt Fitzpatrick all scored -18 after 72 standard holes, so they had to play playoffs to determine the final score. The duel ended in an extra hole – hole 18, when the Korean player born in 1998 scored a birdie 2.7 meters away.

On the closing day of the tournament, Wade Ormsby from Australia hit a hole-in-one on hole 12 with 204 bottles of whiskey – equivalent to the length of the hole. In addition to this reward, Ormsby has 128,000 USD for the final T12 (point -13) place.

Of the $8 million prize pool, Lee received $1.33 million for his second European Tour title, while Detry and Fitzpatrick tied for $679,000.

The Scottish Open helped Lee jump 179 places to 61st OWGR. The top 10 in the world, from the top, currently include Johnson, Rahm, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, Bryson DeChambeau, Patrick Cantlay, Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed, Tyrrell Hatton. Of these, only Rahm and Hatton are outside the US.
