But when she first arrived in Dubai, this 33-year-old female athlete felt very lack of confidence with the difficult preparation process. She was forced to swim in a bathtub when Covid-19 broke out last year, and Europe was continuously blocked off. Ryf also made a canvas swimming pool in his garden, using strings to create more drag. Since the outdoor temperature was cold and the water was not deep enough, she had to wear a diving suit to stay warm.

Ryf was followed by Swiss compatriot Imogen Simmonds – the 2020 champion. Sara Svensk from Sweden finished third. She raced for 4 hours 05 minutes 17 seconds. While Russian athletes – Elena Danilova – and Mexico’s Cecilia Perez took fourth and fifth place respectively.

In the men’s content, Danish athlete Daniel Bakkegard finished first with a record of 3 hours 33 minutes 2 seconds. This parameter is also the new record of Ironman 70.3 Dubai, one minute faster than the record set by Jan Frodeno at 3 hours 34 minutes 38 seconds in 2016. The next two positions after Bakkegard in the top 3 are Portuguese athletes. Filipe Azevedo’s House, and Rasmus Svenningsson – Swedish athletes aged 25-29 at the World Ironman 2018.

“It’s great to be racing where the organizers have everything under control. They prove to us that they can organize a good tournament, even at a time influenced by Covid-19”, Daniel Bakkegard said.

To prepare for the Ironman race, the organizers for the three-track course in the city of Dubai – including Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim and Al Qudra. Closing time is from 6:45 am to 1:50 pm.
