Morikawa was born on February 6, 1997, two months before Tiger Woods won the Masters – the first title in the current 15 major collection.

On July 18, Morikawa held The Open in match 149 organized by Royal & Ancient at Royal St. George’s in the Sandwich region, England. This is his second victory after eight times in the major quartet, thereby becoming the fastest player to reach this milestone in top golf after 1945.

Before 1945, only the legendary Bobby Jones could do that, with the US Open 1923 and The Open 1926. Jordan Spieth in 2015 set the record for the speed of touching two majors since World War II, but it took 10 events. . Woods even went through 18 events to win two majors.

Before The Open 2021, no golfer had won both majors. But with the recent Claret Jug and PGA Championship 2020, Morikawa became the pioneer in that rare achievement, after 11 months. And in golf history, only he and Woods won both The Open and the PGA Championship before the age of 25.

Morikawa turned pro since 2019, so far won five PGA Tour titles, including two majors at the age of 24. And he is formidable when comparing his achievements before the age of 25 with seven famous faces today.

In this list, only Morikawa and DeChambeau have not been crowned number one professional golf in the world (OWGR table). After the last Open, the OWGR top 10 order from the top includes Rahm, Johnson, Morikawa, Thomas, Xander Schauffele, DeChambeau, Koepka, Patrick Cantlay, Louis Oosthuizen, Harris English, while Spieth is in 15th place, and McIlroy closes the top. 15.

At major The Open, Morikawa gradually approached Louis Oosthuizen – the senior who continuously kept the top of the table with 67-64-68 strokes through three rounds. Finishing 54 holes, Morikawa scored -11, one stick away from the South African senior. On the closing day, the player born in 1997 scored four birdies, keeping par on the last hole also helped him complete the round without bogey and win the Claret Jug cup with $ 2.07 million. And in the final match, the putter was the “ultimate weapon” for Morikawa to win The Open.
