Catlin is the first player to be penalized for slow play at the tournament as well as in the traditional major quartet in the past eight years. The previous similar case was Guan Tianlang at the 2013 Masters. At that time, Tianlang was only 14 years old at the amateur level and was reminded four times late.

Catlin is currently ranked 80th in the world (OWGR table), attending the PGA Championship 2021 by the Organizing Committee. This is also the first time he attended the major event of the American Golf Association (PGAA).

American golfers mainly compete in the European Tour and Asian Tour. In the past nine months, the player born in 1990 won three championships in the European First Class golf arena.
