AmericaAdam Scott, Justin Rose and Francesco Molinari may have to leave the match for the $15 million FedEx Cup championship prize on the PGA Tour 2020-2021.

All three won one of the traditional major quartets. Scott won the US Open, Rose won the Masters in 2013 and Molinari won The Open 2018.

Scott in May 2014 and Rose in September 2018 topped OWGR. On this world professional men’s golf rankings, Molinari once finished in the top 5 in the year of winning the major.

But on the PGA Tour, they are struggling when the FedEx Cup (FEC) enters the key stage – the Wyndham Championship with the closing schedule today August 15. The event closes the periodical program and selects 125 players into the FEC playoff series, respectively, including Northern Trust-BMW Championship-Tour Championship with a total prize fund of 70 million USD, including 15 million USD for the champion.

And in this season-long race, Scott, Rose and Molinari are all in the precarious group. On the FEC scorecard before entering Wyndham, Scott is 121, Rose is 138th and Molinari is 140. To qualify, Scott needs to finish 51st Wyndham or higher, Rose is at least in the top 10. Molinari is tired. because it forced to finish the sixth minimum.

The PGA Tour has hosted the FEC since 2007. Scott has never been out of the playoffs for the past 14 years. In fact, this season, Scott only attended 17 tournaments, including the highest T10 at the Farmers Insurance Open earlier this year. “The results are not as good and I feel like I’m going to be a waste of money for my family. However, I’m picking up momentum and hoping to win tickets,” Scott shared on Golf.com on 12/8.

Rose won FEC in 2018. And for him, the play-off ticket is an honorable reward. “You don’t want to miss the opportunity with them. I have never been in this situation and will be determined in Wyndham not to break that pride,” Rose shared with the media after the first 18 holes of Wyndham.

Finished the second stage on August 13. After 36 holes, Rose was in T5 with a score of -9, five strokes off the top of the table. This is also the difference between Rose and Scott in T41 while Molinari was eliminated.

The top 125 FEC pounds behind Wyndham will keep their PGA Tour membership next season. Scott, Rose and Molinari are not worried about being relegated to Second place on the Korn Ferry Tour because they are sure to be promoted to First place for at least three more seasons thanks to their victories in the past three years. Scott won the Genesis Invitational 2020, Rose won the WGC-HSBC Champions 2018 so the PGA Tour cards for both will not expire until the end of the 2023-2024 season. Molinari is more than two seniors a season thanks to The Open 2018.

The relegation battle also recorded the presence of Rory Sabbatini and CT Pan – the Tokyo 2020 medal duo on August 1.
