Ernst’s title in the Drive On Championship on March 7 helped American professional women’s golf have a series of three early 2021 victories at the LPGA Tour for the first time in 14 years.

Before Ernst, the Korda sisters – Jessica and Nelly – held the Tournament of Champions in January and Gainbridge LPGA in February. The bonus fund for all three events totaled $ 4.7 million. Ernst was born in 1992 in South Carolina, playing professionally since 2012.

LPGA Tour is a professional women’s golf tournament with American origin, but multinational with 220 regular members, including 125 players from 32 countries and territories. And for more than a decade, American golfers have never won all three events at the start of the season. They last hit this feat in 2007, thanks to Paula Creamer, Stacy Prammanasudh and Meaghan Francella.

LPGA Tour 2020 recorded a streak of three domestic golfers’ victories, but all in the rematch schedule, from August. The season then kicked off at the beginning of the year, going through four tournaments then interrupted for more than five months because of Covid-19 and lost 18 events in total. In the 18 stages that were deployed, the US representatives won six titles, with Danielle Kang holding two consecutive championships.

As for the 2019 season with 33 official tournaments, they were only crowned six times a year.

Particularly Ernst, Drive On Championship 2021 is the third title in the LPGA Tour, the first time seven years ago and had to play the auxiliary hole, the next time last year from a comeback. Last time, she kept the top of the table for all four legs.

In the first two rounds, Ernst stood T1 with Jennifer Kupcho – former teammate of the Louisiana University golf team. After 54 holes, Ernst led Kup for a stroke. On the closing day, both started the last leg, from hole 1 of Golden Ocala Stadium, par72. Out of seven holes, Ernst had a six-stroke advantage, thanks to a chain of four birdies and no bogey.

In the second half of the field, Ernst was no birdie and two bogeys. Kupcho scored three birdies, but up to two bogeys and a double bogey. At the end, Ernst went to the podium at -15, took $ 225,000 and Kupcho finished second with a score of -10 and $ 139,200.

After the Drive On Championship, Ernst jumped 19 places to 14th on the world rankings – Rolex Rankings. With the third place (score -8) of Jenny Coleman, the prize that recorded all the top 3 in the end belonged to the American member.
